Obduction Is Here!

Cyan, Inc., after setting a June release, then delaying until July before finally choosing August 24th, has finally released their spiritual successor to Myst: Obduction!

The game was financed by fans via Kickstarter three years ago and Cyan has been developing the game ever since.

Backers will be receiving an e-mail with a code they can redeem to get the game.  Non-backers can purchase the game via Steam, GoG.com, Humble Bundle, and the Obduction site itself.

Congratulations to everyone at Cyan!

All Guilds Meeting - June 2016

Much to talk about in the cavern these days.  With Obduction just over the horizon, there's certainly no lack of activity in the Myst/URU community!  As such, this month's All Guilds Meeting had a few interesting bits of information.

Of course, we have our usual raw and cleansed chatlogs courtesy of Korov'ev, plus a handy summary of what was discussed.

Korman

Hoikas was first to the stage to mention that work on version 4 of Korman, the Guild of Writers' latest Age-building plugin for Blender, was coming along nicely.  The biggest addition will be sounds along with a few other goodies.  There will be a full report on the update when it releases.

Obduction Delayed To July With Release Date

In a backer message sent to those that donated to the Kickstarter campaign, Cyan, Inc. has confirmed a release date for Obduction, but with a catch: it will be in late July instead of June as previously announced.

The new release date has been set for Tuesday, July 26th for PC and Mac. The retail price will be $29.99 for those who didn't donate but want to buy it. Backers have already paid for the game with their donations, and details of how and when the game will be delivered to them are forthcoming.

Digital purchase methods will be Steam and likely GOG.com and a boxed release is not planned outside of backers who donated to get them.

System specs have been revealed on Steam's Obduction page.  Alex Rich has posted a handy screenshot of said requirements for the Windows version.  UPDATE: ...and the Mac version too!

Keep checking back here for more Obduction updates!

Obduction Releases in June

It's been hinted as "second quarter of 2016" up until now, but Obduction, Cyan, Inc.'s spiritual successor to Myst, is now set to be released in June of this year!

For those that are just hearing about this (and really, where have you been?), Obduction was successfully funded by fans through Kickstarter and has been in development since then.  Many familiar faces have returned for the project, including Robyn Miller, who will be composing the game's soundtrack, his first for the company since Riven in 1997.

How was the June release month announced?  Why, with a shiny new trailer of course!

You can view the new teaser trailer by clicking here.

There will be more news as it comes in, including when an actual date in June is officially announced.
