Just a short announcement to remind everyone that r’Tayrtahn (known to some by Rehnehmtahn Later in SL) will once again hold the Story Nights in Tsahno’s Hood every Saturday at 23:00 KI time.
These stories are known to be far ranging, from the biographies of the D’ni kings, the Myst novel series, plus tales from the various games. These stories will be told using voice chat provided by the KI-device.
Head on down to the cavern and listen in, if you can get the time!
The latest version of the next-generation Age building plugin, dubbed Korman, has been released to the public. There have been many additions to this Blender plugin, and it is catching up fast with PyPRP as far as options.
Some key changes include:
- Added a half-baked Plasma Light panel
- Added Link To Age Node
- Added option to export kAlphaTestHigh for draw order phailures
- Added Soft Volumes
- Added Visibility Regions and Effect Visibility Sets
- Fixed a bug in which meshes would be exported as lamps
- Fixed an infinite recursion bug with parented objects
- Fixed a Python traceback in the Water wind settings
- Improved alpha texture "ADD" blend mode
Installation is relatively easy. Note that to use the plugin, it is assumed you have at least a basic knowledge of Blender and its workings. There are also a few handy tutorials you can use to start building your own Age. Note that the newest options have not been documented yet, but that will change soon.
A big congratulations to the many programmers who have contributed! Keep checking back for further news on Korman and all things Age development related!
As was mentioned at the last All Guilds Meeting, explorers visiting Gehn Shard have been hard at work calibrating that version of the Great Zero. It's been such a success, that Victor Haxman feels it's ready to activate fully!
As such, the Guild of Writers has invited explorers to gather at the Great Zero to witness this impressive piece of D'ni machinery go online. Note that, if you want to be down on the "main floor" for the event (and not watch it from the small window of the observation deck), you will need to gather your green and red markers to gain entrance to the main chamber via the Nexus.
The planned event will be held on Saturday, February 6th on Gehn Shard immediately following the All Guilds Meeting on the MOULa shard.
Hoikas himself will be hosting a music feed. You can listen at http://hoikas.com:8000/gehn.ogg
For those that missed out on this occasion back during the Gametap era, now is the time to see this rare occurence for yourself!
If you have not set up Gehn Shard yet, you can view details on how to do so at this link. If there's any troubles, you can discuss it in that section of the GoW forums.
Shorah, fellow cavern-folk!
JayRho has recently anounced he will be streaming a musical tribute to the late Glenn Frey of the Eagles. The event will be on this Friday, the 22nd of January, starting at 17:30 KI time in the courtyard of Ae'gura. Plans are to have a program lasting about two-and-a-half hours.
The music will feature a lot of the songs by the Eagles where Glenn Frey sang lead, plus many tunes from his solo career. This will also include some tracks from an early duo with J. D. Souther called Longbranch Pennywhistle (if a copy can be located).
Interested explorers are able to connect to the music stream by going to UruTunes and clicking on Scenes From A Relto. Drop down to the cavern if you can, and possibly discover a song or two you've never heard before!
JayRho looks forward to seeing everyone there!
Great news, fellow explorers!
The Friday Night Dance Party is alive and well, with a sizable turnout both in mid-December and for the New Year's Day Dance Party. Many of the cavern's citizens had a great time, with quite a few staying later for the post-dance music.
There has been a special request for where the next dance party could be held, and JayRho has chosen to honor that request. The next party will be on January 15th, with music starting at 16:00 KI Time. Future parties will be every two weeks after that date.
There will be both pre-event feed music starting at 15:00, and things will finish up with some post-dance tunes at 17:00.
The events will usually be held in Atrus' former prison room of the public instance of K'veer (accessible via the Nexus); each event will be announced in the forum thread. As usual, you will be able to connect to the music by going to UruTunes and clicking on the "Scenes From A Relto" link.
JayRho also wishes to extend a huge thanks to all who continue to support this event and make it a success.
Hope to see you there!!!
